Track #01. The Drowning Age
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
On the shore, lost in our time,
Currents are bursting through
From the sky; an aberration;
Chimeras’ burning you
In the dark; inside the Earth
Blood runs barren now
See this age, so discolored…
It’s breaking down somehow
Our homes are since long deserted -
The planet cries from within
And slumbers still as her child dies
We’re hiding from her love
The drowning age no longer waits,
Born through hollow eyes
Feel the wind, behold the scourge
Come closer and watch it rise
I sit on the vortex waiting for the world to fall
Stretching through this illusory
Empire, gasping for air as another life is written,
As another soul is taken
Nature cast out -
In your eyes a light was flickering
I didn’t mean to scare you,
But I miss you…
Catharsis’ burning!
Let’s bring our gods to the gallows;
A new moon will shine on you
Let’s bring our gods to the gallows;
A new light will shine on us all
In aching sorrow I break down
I see despair in what we’ve become
These chambers of demons full
Finally darkens this fading glow
On the shore, lost in our time,
Currents are bursting through
From the sky; an aberration;
Chimeras’ burning you
The drowning age has given birth,
We better unfold our hands
As we weep; then we shall wake
To return the inborn Earth
Our homes are since long deserted -
The planet cries from within
And slumbers still as her child dies
We’re hiding from her love
Track #02. The Last Hour Ancient Sunlight
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
Black is the sunlight shimmering below;
It flows through life and the guilt we share
Our sorrow, it cuts through the undergrowth,
As we abandon this ravenous Earth alone
The zeitgeist dimmed the surface and seized the soul
Our Mother wept behind the fence,
And we drained her blood, then forgetting her face,
And hide from everyone…
To breathe, to conquer,
To linger, to utilize the ignorant herd
In rapture from nature we divorce,
Like orphans by desire,
From this closing light
The bewildered sleep -
The shadowy voyager is lurking;
He’s in the flesh of landscapes vaporous
The vacant, untiring Sovran of old…
He’s the machinery; igniting the paralyzed soil
We took the blood of the earth
And fell in love with death
With life itself as an excuse
Black is the sunlight shimmering below;
It flows through life and the guilt we all share
We’re hiding in chorus as starry eyes close,
And seasons part in farewell;
‘Cause we drained her blood, then forgetting her face
To hide from everyone
The bewildered sleep -
The shadowy voyager is lurking;
He’s in the flesh of landscapes vaporous
The vacant, untiring Sovran of old…
He’s the machinery; igniting the paralyzed soil
Track #03. End Of The Rope
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson & Erik Arvidsson
All the misery you create,
And all the pain you shape…
You are not to blame, my friend.
Somebody filled your empty page
Shaped as we silently wept,
Confined (as) transformation begins.
The table was set and then we slept
As architects of time
So much grief behind the facade
And symptoms of certain demise.
We drown in fragrant illusions,
Illusions of right and wrong.
We clench to a lustful saint
Digging graves on top of our lives
Stuffed with values til we choke,
I guess we’ve reached the end of the rope
Through the mist, in the haze,
The impending doom’s upon us
The dividing blade of nature
And man severed our callow breath
The sun will set
On the blindfolded
The self-appointed guardians
Are scratching at my door.
We kiss their venomous lips
and join the hallowed parade.
Flying on paralyzed wings
Wondering who we should be
As tyranny becomes normality;
We hang at the end of the rope
Through the mist, in the haze,
The impending doom’s upon us
The dividing blade of nature
And man severed our callow breath
The sun will set
On the blindfolded
Track #04. Elysian Night
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson & Johan Ericson
I am so far away…
You see, I’m nothing without thee
I fall down, down to the ground,
And all alone, I wish that I could go
Drown here with me,
Hold me, save me
Are you there, beloved one?
I clench our whisper to the fading
Playing out the frozen dream
To watch me bleed in the sunrise
Watch me bleed in the sunrise
Break, can you see how I break,
And still, my world remains the same
Don’t die, please stay awhile
This night we’ll learn how to fly
Snow is falling from ebon skies
And I see some peace in your eyes
Playing out the frozen dream
To watch me bleed in the sunrise
Watch me bleed in the sunrise
I can’t go on with the quiet,
To wait until we wake up,
To be gone with the fire
I must go now
Are you there, beloved one?
Will you help me carry on,
And lead me through the sunrise?
Lead me through the sunrise
I can’t go on with the quiet,
To wait until we wake up,
To be gone with the fire
I must go now
Track #05. Deadlight
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
Greed in a cage obsolete
Painting colors of old
Victims of culture unfold,
The world sighs once more
Look at us, our eyes are dead;
A gaze of incentives mislead
A deadlight, a whisper
Unearth your face in the mirror
My hope soon to be over…
Take me and lock me in
Throw away the key
I’m beyond all help,
So kill me
Bleed in this cage of deceit,
Then; die in the cold
This is the pain you withhold
When the world sighs once more
A treacherous spawn here fester,
Holding the future hostage
And dancing restlessly and bare
With the phantom of time
Flies swarm as mouths open
And dead words are spoken.
This room has a foul smell…
There’s blood on the walls
And I need to break out
Look at us, our eyes are dead;
A gaze of incentives mislead
A deadlight, a whisper
Unearth your face in the mirror
My hope soon to be over…
Take me and lock me in
Throw away the key
I’m beyond all help
So kill me
A screaming silence
Hushed beneath the sky;
Silence… thrashing the firmament
Track #06. Dead World Assembly
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
Ghosts with gentle voices, calling us never to wake
And we see another nation rising from the ashes…
Soon to unearth what we cannot escape,
As time draws near for all of us
Make amend, dear tyrant,
And be my ominous companion
Through horrors’ eye we’ll seek vision lost to the sheep;
Rapt and fitfully chained
Hear the trumpets’ sound!
The angels of discord are gathering;
Such beautiful faces, such poisonous tongues;
A dead world assembly…
Into the world you brought me,
And after your world you wrought me
With a finger to your mouth
And I lost myself in the sea;
Carrying the waves of time
There’s nothing to believe,
And you ask me why I grieve
Make amend, dear tyrant,
And be my ominous companion
Through horrors’ eye we’ll seek vision lost to the sheep;
Rapt and fitfully chained
“Earth raised up her head
From the darkness’ dread and drear
Her light fled, and her locks covered with grey despair”
Hear the trumpets’ sound!
Our empire stifles and crumbles
This terrible loss will generate us,
Gone from this dead world assembly…
Here is the void
Here is the cross we carry with us
Through this dead world assembly
[Quote taken from William Blake's "Earth's Answer"]
Track #07. A Phantom Dissonance
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
The chorus of life has spoken;
Past has the child of reason.
Fading through winters’ lonely passage
We crawl at the feet of evolution
Some became kings and some became gods
And the rest just followed,
Swallowed their freedom and joined the charade
We did not realize we all had lost,
We locked the door and hid our shame
In this environment of fear
A hopeless scenario of apathy unleashed,
A dreadful travesty captured and revealed…
Shown under a cloak of loud indifference,
Where the human stain kisses the pestilence
Gather for life’s final hour
Cold hands reaching for the fire
Some became wolves and some became sheep,
And eyes sown shut governed our frozen
Perspective of the world
We did not realize we all had lost;
We locked the door and hid our shame
In this environment of fear
A phantom dissonance;
The quiet storm erupts the eminence…
Of sickness born
A hopeless scenario of apathy unleashed,
A dreadful travesty captured and revealed…
Shown under a cloak of loud indifference,
Where the human stain kisses the pestilence
Track #08. The Quiet Storm
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
We stumble through life
Shedding the same tears
Forming the same stream
Asking the same questions
Dreading the new day
It’s so quiet here,
Still violence is speaking
I close my eyes.
A storm is coming,
A spiral of conversion;
Broods from the core of stone-wielded luster
Yes, a storm is certainly coming…
Feel the surge
Rapidly we reach for clenched hands to save us
…And we see ourselves for the first
Time as the ones we truly are,
As we bleed, as we die
Hands emaciated folds around our hearts
As we stand in line to leave this life;
To embrace the fear,
To wear the crown of an empire never meant to be
Walking in circles,
Reaping the afterglow
A human affliction drowning the undertow
I’d rather understand from where my tears derive,
To accept the sadness of knowing,
And relieving the long lost hope
Than pursue the tarnished ways of man.
But we exist here…
And we cry at night
Track #09. The Death Of Hours
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson & Erik Arvidsson
A closing sanctuary in this shimmering night;
So tired, so restless under an ominous light
I found myself in thoughts of dying,
Shivered in bitter dismay
I see you there; And I wonder why
The silence does not break
Away, please turn away.
In my dreams you haunt me still.
Come, please come my way.
In my life I need you still.
The morrow-winds shall blow no more
So many pale moons ago;
A flower of death did grow
A closing sanctuary in this shimmering night;
So tired, so restless under an ominous light
You found yourself in thoughts of dying,
Shivering in bitter dismay,
I see you there; and I wonder why
The silence does not break
Away, you turned away.
In my dreams you haunt me still.
Come, please come my way.
In my life I need you still.
To blossom in the deepest of black,
And thus we die to flower again
“I keep your memory near my heart,
My brilliant, beautiful guiding Star,
Till long life over, I too depart
To the infinite night where perhaps you are.”
A rupture through the dirty glass,
Cutting myself to behold another spring
So I became the exile, unable to (sustain) love,
Smiling at Death and unite with my solitude
To finally turn the blooded page
I pray these tears will end soon,
But you just left me lying here
I wasn’t ready for the world…
Still, I was thrown in there

Track #10. Wall Of Sighs
Music by: Johan Ericson & Draconian
Lyrics by: Anders Jacobsson
Today I lost my way
A circle of light I wept
And this torn curtain sank
A dire masquerade I slept
Empty value rending the afterglow
To witness the birth of the end
Hollow minds, a static lucidity…
I deserve to crawl, I’ve earned the weight
This cancer cadaverous
Atrocious humanity, breathe…
Breathe through the undertow
Where no one is free
And with ashes we build,
‘Cause with ashes we see
I know dead hearts linger
In a world screaming at me
Last night I found some peace
For a while the angels sang
Last night there was no disease
For a while I smiled again
This cancer cadaverous
Atrocious humanity, breathe…
Breathe through the undertow
Where no one is free
And with ashes we build,
‘Cause with ashes we see
I know dead hearts linger
In a world screaming at me

Biography Draconian :
The beginning of Sweden’s DRACONIAN can be traced back to May 1994, when Johan Ericson (drums, vocals), Andy Hindenäs (guitars) and Jesper Stolpe (bass, vocals) joined forces as KERBEROS, a melodic heavy/death metal ensemble with black metal influences. Seven months later, lead vocalist and poet Anders Jacobsson joined the band, which then changed its name to what it is today.
Over the next months, DRACONIAN worked diligently on new material that eventually found its way to their first demo Shades of a Lost Moon which was released in February 1996. At the end of January 1997, DRACONIAN recorded their second demo, In Glorious Victory. Unfortunately, the band quickly grew discontent with the sound quality of the recording and decided not to release it. In early August 1999, DRACONIAN entered Studio Kuling to record The Closed Eye of Paradise, an album that dealt with the mystical dark theme of Lucifer and his fallen angels, the true face of God, and the forthcoming battle.
Unfortunately, the recording, suffering from a bad production, was again not up to DRACONIAN’s high standards and was not released before 2000, after the band had done various improvements to the original recording.
DRACONIAN began concentrating on creating something fresh and unique. Their sound became slower, darker, and doomier. The material that ensued guided DRACONIAN in a different direction. Their 2-track promo Frozen Features was made available on the Internet, as well as in CD format. A final demo was recorded in the summer of 2002 featuring the vocal talents of Lisa Johansson for the first time. Dark Oceans We Cry paved the final way for DRACONIAN to transcend out of the unknown and into the limelight. The demo received outstanding reviews and the band signed a long-awaited record deal with NAPALM RECORDS.
DRACONIAN recorded their debut album, Where Lovers Mourn in Studio Mega under the supervision of Chris Silver (ex Sundown and Cemetary member) in July 2003.
Just two years later, under the direction of Pelle Saether, DRACONIAN entered Studio Underground in Västerås to record Arcane Rain Fell in 2005.
In 2006 DRACONIAN began working on their third release. But due to myriad fan requests, the band decided to first deliver a bonus album to include remakes of old tracks from The Closed Eyes of Paradise demo. The Burning Halo would also include three new tracks and two covers. Plagued by numerous problems throughout the production phases, the album was delayed and finally completed in June and released in September 2006.
Produced by Andreas Karlsson and Johan Ericson, and mixed in Anders Ljudbild by Anders Bergström, The Burning Halo is a majestic blend of DRACONIAN’s previous two releases, which shows the Swedish Doom Metal masters in perfect form, having developed into one of the scene's top acts.
In September 2007, DRACONIAN began recording their 4th album Turning Season Within at the Fascination Street Studios in Örebro with producers Jens Bogren and David Castillo (Opeth, Katatonia).
Turning Season Within is both tragic and beautiful, and filled with songs of longing and drama. Only DRACONIAN is able to so skillfully follow romantic passages and wonderful female vocal arrangements with the tuned-down walls of darkish riffs and violent vocal passages or even compose dreamy melodies fit for an eternity, only to forcefully tear them down, thus creating a beguiling yet heavy fusion of Doom and Gothic Metal.
Vocalist Anders Jacobsson had this to say about the most personal and down-to-earth DRACONIAN lyrics to date: "Failing and hopeless love relationships, as well as how we deal with them is what this album is about." Refuting the belief that such subject matter doesn’t go well with dark and heavy music, he further explains "pain is a topic that never grows old in musical themes. Some people seem to forget that love can be the greatest hell you have to manage, while remaining vital to our existence. In this way, I think that our music, with both the harsh and tender moments, fits these lyrics extremely well. The disparate dispositions define our emotional world, and love can be both heaven and hell."
